At the book launch of “Chankaya in You”

It was a final moment decision to drop in to Odyssey to attend the book launch of Chanakya In You. The name of the author and the book didn’t strike a chord in me until my mind got reminded about the book “Corporate Chanakya” I read couple of years before. That was when i decided to attend the event and if possible to have an interaction with Dr. Radhakrishnan Pillai, the Author of the Chankaya In You.

Speaking about Dr. Radhakrishnan Pillai, He is from the University of Mumbai, Department of Philosophy is the founder-director of Chanakya Institute of Public leadership (CIPL), a leadership academy which trains political leaders and aspirants. With nearly 20 years of combined working and business experience he is a well known management speaker, trainer, author and consultant. He is a certified management consultant from the International Institute of Management Consultants. He is the director at SPM Foundation and founder Director of Atma Darshan a spiritual tourism company.

His first book ‘Corporate Chanakya’ has been on the “best-seller” list since its launch in 2010 and used as a text book in various Business schools in India and abroad. His second book ‘Chanakya’s 7 Secrets of Leadership’ along with Mr. D. Sivanandhan has created waves in corporate world since its release.

Here’s the transcript of the conversation that I had with the Author:

1. What was the inspiration behind writing the books on Chanakya's model?

It is due to Chinmaya Mission. I had studied the Kautilya's Arthashastra there and found that there is so much of wealth there, we need to reach it to the masses. So writing was one form for me to reach Chanakya's wisdom to the common man.

2. How many books you have all-together written on the strategies of Chanakya?

Three - Corporate Chanakya, Chanakya's 7 secrets of leadership and latest 'Chanakya in You'

3. Regarding your first book, was it just your business experiences that made you write this book, or you also drew experiences of the other business people?

Both. I had applied the teaching of Arthashastra in my own business and as a consultant to other businesses too. I found really good success in both. These experiences have been put together in  'Corporate Chanakya'

4. In writing all your books that revolve around the strategies of Chankaya, do you just relate these strategies based on your own experiences or you also draw examples from other people's experiences?

An author always writes from his/ her own experience. But, we also include the inputs from other people's lives that we come across. So its a mix of both.

I felt lucky to meet him in Chennai, and also purchased the book, but unluckily forgot to get the book personally signed by him.
